BIO.
Greg Benz is a Canadian artist based in London, Ontario, known for his expressive, textural paintings and abstracted landscapes. Working primarily with acrylic paint, inks, and a variety of texture mediums, Benz creates works that explore the relationship between landscape, atmosphere, and abstraction. His paintings balance structure and spontaneity, using layers of colour, texture, and gestural mark-making to capture the feeling and movement of the natural world.
Having grown up along the shores of Lake Huron, Benz draws inspiration from a deep personal connection to the landscape, as well as his travels throughout Northern Ontario. His background as a DJ and music producer also influences his artistic practice, bringing a sensitivity to rhythm, movement, and layering that carries through his compositions.
A graduate of the Bealart program at H.B. Beal Secondary School, Benz has been painting for over 20 years and has been represented by galleries across Canada. His work is held in private collections around the world. He is currently represented by Canvas Gallery in Toronto, The Benz Gallery, and Gordon Harrison Gallery in Ottawa.
